Stephen’s a percussionist and composer. On drum kit he’s worked with artists such as Aimee Mann, Squeeze, Nanci Griffith and is currently drummer for Mark Eitzel of American Music Club - most recently working with Bernard Butler and Mark on his new album - due out in 2020. As a percussionist he’s a founder member of one of the world's leading chamber groups – ensemblebash – where he’s worked with Steve Reich, Chick Corea, Sir Harrison Birtwistle, Stewart Copeland and Evelyn Glennie to name a few. He works as a musician and Musical Director at Shakespeare's Globe and the National Theatre and was the solo musician and composer on Complicite's show 'Lionboy' touring to Broadway and around the world from 2013-2016. He’s also spent several very happy study periods in Ghana learning traditional styles of music with master musicians from the National Dance Company of Ghana and The Pan African Orchestra. He is currently Artist-in-Residence at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama until 2022 as a member of ensemblebash.
