Ethiopia Conflict – an update

40,000 refugees so far have infiltrated Sudan with up to 600 civilians dying in the ongoing conflict. The Tigray conflict is putting Ethiopia’s stability at risk. And there are growing fears violence will intensify in Tigray region. US President-elect Joe Biden and his incoming administration calls for mediation as tension rises, citing “Ethiopia being too big an African Nation to fail”.

Historically, relations between the US and Ethiopia has been tricky, especially under President Trump where the Nile River dispute between Ethiopia and Egypt has exacerbated.

Meanwhile according to the Ethiopian government, the military are now entering its final phase of offensive against Tigray.
